By The Editor 7th Sep 2021

Maldon fire crews rushed to the scene when a bus caught fire in Danbury this afternoon (Friday, 19 March).

The extensive damage to the bus was clear in photographs posted on the Maldon Fire Station Facebook page this evening.

The social media post stated: "This evening we attended a bus on fire in Danbury alongside our colleagues from Great Baddow and Chelmsford fire stations.

"Unfortunately the bus was badly damaged by the fire."

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters from Maldon, Great Baddow and Chelmsford were called to a vehicle fire on Main Road, Danbury at 5.15pm.

"On arrival, crews reported that a single decker bus was 100 per cent alight and worked to extinguish the fire by 6.23pm.

"Firefighters who attended this incident from Maldon and Great Baddow are on-call firefighters who are all live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station and are paid to protect their community. If you live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station, you could be an on-call firefighter. Find out more at the link here."
