Firefighters at Maldon Fire Station have revealed that their charity car wash on Saturday, 18 September, raised £518 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The crew members were on hand with sponges and buckets from 10am to 4pm, at their station on Wycke Hill, to make residents' cars look brand new.

Attendees were able to make donations to the Fire Fighters Charity on the day, which offers specialist lifelong support for the mental, physical and social needs of serving and retired firefighters in the UK.

Car washes take place across the country each year to raise money for the charity.

Nick Trice, crew manager at Maldon Fire Station, said: "The Fire Fighters charity is a fantastic charity that not only supports operational firefighters to recover from illness and injury, but also their dependents.

"We had such great support on the day from the people of Maldon and we can't thank them enough for their generosity.

"We raised an amazing total of £518 through donations on the day, which is incredible."
