Staycations Maldon launches to offer guests luxury apartments in the heart of the town
We are delighted to announce that Staycations Maldon will be partnering with Maldon Nub News.
Staycations Maldon launched in July this year, under the leadership of James Mann and his team, to offer guests luxury self-catering apartments in the heart of Maldon and an experience like no other in the town and its surrounding areas.
Shannon, the property manager, said: "Nowhere else in Maldon has spacious apartments like this which offer what we offer.
"It's like a 5* hotel."
James opened the first Staycations apartment - named The Bright Suite - in late July, and it has already been almost fully booked.
James and Shannon are now busy getting three more apartments ready for opening, which will enable them to offer customers places with different size and price options to suit a range of needs.
The Byrhtnoth suite will be available within the next week, while the remaining two apartments - Plume and D'arcy - plan to open to guests in the next month or two.
Staycations has already received rave reviews from guests, with an "exceptional" 9.7/10 rating on Bookings.com.
Shannon said: "Every guest we have had has been absolutely wowed by our Bright Suite."
A big wow factor comes from the apartments' special character, as they retain the history of the Grade II listed Kings Head Centre in which they are situated.
The building, which dates back to 1522, has been lovingly preserved by James, who has ensured that its original features can be enjoyed by guests of the new apartments.
Shannon said: "The apartments have so much character.
"James is a restoration king - he buys tired furniture, recycles and restores them.
"He doesn't like anything to go to waste and comes up with amazing ideas for every piece he restores.
"You will see the quirkiness of what he does when you stay at one of our properties."
Each room has a theme which reflects a piece of Maldon's history.
The Bright apartment is named after the infamous "fat man of Maldon", Edward Bright – a 44 stone, 18th-century grocer who lived on Maldon High Street.
The roomy apartment features the building's original oak beams and has beautiful antique furniture.
It also has a stunning dining room which has been designed to transform into a conference room - media points very cleverly come out of the middle of the table and can connect to a screen on the wall for presentations or video conferences.
Shannon said: "We want to accommodate the rising number of people who are working from home since the pandemic.
"People can come here and work from here - it's a home and office away from home."
The apartments are full of these special touches, free of charge, to make guests feel at home.
Guests are provided with complimentary port as a nightcap, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries.
Shannon added: "We supply various tea and coffee, as well as cereal and locally-sourced jams, honey and marmalade. We also provide milk for morning coffee in case of guests checking in late.
"If you stay for three nights or more, you will receive a welcome hamper which is full of locally-sourced and special items - we might leave a bottle of prosecco in it, for example, and a box of nice chocolates."
With three more apartments to open, Staycations has an exciting and busy future ahead.
The D'arcy apartment will be Staycations' biggest, with stunning features including a super king size bed, a free-standing copper bath and chandeliers.
Shannon said: "This will be an opulent room that everyone is going to be talking about.
"Anna, our photographer and media expert, is going to take you through the works step by step with photos and updates on Instagram of the progression when renovation starts in the next few weeks.
"Watch this space because you're all going to be blown away by what's to come.
"We're going to be leaders in Maldon."
Karl Hancock, Nub News founder and chief executive officer, said: "It's great to welcome Staycations Maldon on board as a sponsor.
"Without community-minded sponsors like them, we wouldn't be able to provide our readers with the hyper-local community news they deserve."
