Fifteen teams battled it out at Maldon In Bloom's quiz night at Maldon Town Hall last Saturday (September 23), raising £690 for the community group.

Held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Maldon In Bloom, Chairman Councillor Flo Shaughnessy described the event as "a great success".

"I'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to the 'quizzers' who were so generous as well as amusing," Cllr Shaughnessy told Nub News.

"The support from local businesses never fails."

Organisers' heartfelt thanks went to Mark and Vicky Heard, who supplied the questions and "strived to keep us all in order". They have been keen supporters of Maldon In Bloom for several years.

Cllr Shaughnessy also showed her gratitude "for the amazing Maldon in Bloom team, who always pull together".

She added: "Whether gardening or on such occasions as Quiz Night - they always know what needs to be done and do it!"

Thanks also went to Lynda Townend, Maldon Town Council's Environment Officer, who is "a great supporter behind the scenes".

A wide variety of raffle prizes were donated by members of the Maldon In Bloom team, Reeves, Coes, Maldon Coffee Co, Maldon Books, and the Queen Victoria pub.

Residents are encouraged to look out for posters promoting Maldon In Bloom's organised litter pick on October 18.
