Last Wednesday (July 13), more than a hundred keen amateur gardeners gathered at Maldon's Town Hall, for the annual Maldon in Bloom awards.

Hosted by Councillor Flo Shaughnessy, former Maldon Town Mayor, the event celebrated those who work hard to present their gardens, allotments, or standalone planters in an attractive, sustainable, and/or community-minded way.

Councillor Shaughnessy told the entrants: "All the allotments, front gardens, planters and hanging baskets everywhere have been fantastically looked after.

"Each one the judges have seen has looked healthy and vibrant. That's why the marking was so tight."
