A new episode of DNA Journey on ITV has aired - and Maldon plays a starring role!

ITV's DNA Journey is a series following celebrities as they discover their family history using DNA and genealogy.

In Wednesday evening's episode, Life on Mars Actors John Simm and Phil Glenister go on a journey to discover about themselves and their families.

After John explores shock revelations about his biological father in Featherstone, the pair head to the Essex countryside to explore Phil's backstory.

"The absolute dream would be to find out I have inherited a load of money and a massive stately home." Phil quips.

The pair find themselves in Maldon, where they put on their best Essex boy accents and giggle at the sign for Butt Lane Car Park.

They then head to Maldon High Street's Moot Hall to meet an expert called Paula, who will dive into some family law history with Phil.

Phil discoveres his Great Grandfather five times removed, Samuel Bumdock, was a very rich farming man, and that his will had been read out in the very same room Phil finds himself in, just 230-years later.

The surprises don't end there…
