Maldon Town Council has announced a rebrand for this year's Christmas light switch-on event in the High Street, which will be focused on "showcasing the best of Maldon."

The Christmas lights switch-on event and market, now named 'Light Up Maldon', will be held on November 28 from 5pm to 9pm.

This exciting community event promises to illuminate Maldon High Street with festive cheer, bustling with street stalls, charming indoor craft markets, and entertainment by local performers.

A variety of stalls will offer unique crafts, delicious hot food, and refreshing beverages, and in true festive fashion, the Traditional Santa's Grotto will be making a return.

Town Centre shops will be encouraged to expand their presence with stalls outside their premises, alongside opportunities for other Maldon District traders, community groups, and local charities.

Indoor craft stalls will also be available in The Town Hall and the Swan Hotel Bar & Grill's Cygnet Room.

In line with the assurances made in May, Maldon Town Council will be prioritising partnerships with Maldon businesses in this year's event.

Councillor Andrew Lay, Maldon Town Mayor, said, "Light Up Maldon promises to be a celebration for the entire community. We're excited to support our hardworking businesses, from established retailers to exciting new ventures.

"Community groups and charities are also warmly welcomed to participate.

"It will be a night to remember, filled with festive joy and local spirit."

Town Centre shops will again be invited to enter the traditional window dressing competition, with details to follow shortly.
