Maldon: Limebrook u3a's July newsletter

By The Editor

7th Sep 2021 | Local News

The following is the July newsletter for Maldon's Limebrook u3a - and there's an open invitation to the monthly meeting on Friday, 9 July to find out more.

Limebrook u3a has had another busy month. Jo Madge arranged a meeting of our Interest Group Leaders. They each provided an update on what they have been doing and their plans for the coming months.

A Buddy System is in place as part of our Keeping in Touch Project and as we enter Phase 2 we will incorporate specific help for those who need assistance with emails and technology as it is likely that meetings on Zoom will continue for the

foreseeable future.

Jo has prepared a Welcome Pack that will be given to new members when they join. The details of all our activities will be included together with contact details

and photographs of our Group Leaders. The plan is to circulate this to everyone in Limebrook u3a in July.

The Real Ale Group met at the Queen's Head for a lunchtime session and the lovely weather gave them the opportunity to catch up on what has happened over the last year and to plan future events.

The Walking Group have recommenced activities and after a walk around Maldon they repaired to the

Queen's Head for lunch.

Steve Parrott took first prize in the Photography Competition where the subject was "Architecture in your area" with his picture of Maldon Station. Our new member Phil Davies was voted the best image in the Photoshop Competition having enhanced his version of Maldon Station using technology to change the photograph from colour to black and white with other clever changes to add impact.

Twelve members of Meryl Rawlings's Garden Chat Group met on the 7th of June, and they enjoyed bright sunshine while catching up before having a tour of Chris Stringer's Garden.

There was a plant exchange and plans made for their July meeting. All of our Groups have been keeping in touch and are active again, making the u3a motto

Learn Laugh Live part of what makes Limebrook u3a a friendly place for people to meet and share common interests and social activities.

At our Monthly Meeting on Friday the 9th of July we shall be watching David Allen via a Zoom link. "The weird and wonderful world of the law" is his topic when he will share with us an enjoyable romp through the legal world including stories of raving judges, dotty clients and political correctness gone raving mad.

We are opening this meeting to guests. If you would

like to attend or learn more about us, please contact our Membership Secretary Tim Stubbings on 01621 855158 for more details or visit our website by searching for Limebrook u3a.
