THE organisers of the Maldon Mud Race have this morning (Friday, 18 June) released a statement on this year's event.

A spokesperson said: "The Maldon Mud Race team have been monitoring events closely and whilst the lifting of final Covid-19 restrictions remains delayed, we are confident this year's Race will go ahead on Sunday, 15 August.

"We appreciate your continued patience and we are hopeful that by 19 July we will be able to confirm the 2021 Race can take place.

"Our Team has to prioritise the safety of entrants, spectators, volunteers and our sponsors and we will continue working closely with Maldon District Council during this time."

The team also promised that in the unlikely event the race cannot go ahead in 2021, all entrants will be able to roll over their entry to 2022.

The spokesperson added: "Thank you for continuing to support us and we hope to be able to make a positive announcement in the coming weeks that the Maldon Mud Race will return on Sunday, 15 August."
