Maldon Rotary Club's outgoing President, John Williams, handed the chain of office over to Judy Smith on July 5.

James Howard, a Maldon Rotary Club member, told Nub News: "John has presided over and guided the Club as we came out of lockdown and resumed normal activities.

"In fact, the Club has been able to present a record breaking fireworks display, help with the Town's Vintage Fayre and Remembrance parade, and help with the Santa Sleigh last December."

Mr Howard says the Club has also collected money for St Peter's Hospital and ran its Annual Plant Sale last May.

"There have been many more activities, both social and fundraising."

Mrs Smith is said to be looking forward to her year as President, as the Maldon Rotary Club is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.

One of the other highlights later in the year will be a visit to the Rotary Club of Amsterdam, for a three-day exchange trip in September.
