Man arrested after fatal collision near Maldon

A person has been arrested in connection to a fatal collision in Hackmans Lane, Purleigh.

Officers were called to the scene of a one-vehicle collision shortly after 2.30am on Monday, January 6.

A man in his 20s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man, also aged in his 20s, from Brentwood, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

He has been released under investigation while police continue enquiries.

The road was closed until 1pm yesterday while investigations were carried out, but is now open to traffic.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage which could assist enquiries to come forward.
