A man who was arrested this weekend following a disturbance on Maldon High Street was later "de-arrested" by Essex Police, it has been revealed.

Officers were called to a disturbance at fast food outlet King Kebab on Maldon High Street at around 10.30pm on Saturday (20 November).

It was reported that a man was being abusive.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing three police cars flashing blue lights on the High Street while several officers spoke to people in King Kebab.

They also reported seeing officers detain a man further up the road.

A spokesperson for Essex Police has since said "a man was arrested and later de-arrested".

They continued: "If you have any information you can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk or use the Live Chat button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.

"Please quote the crime reference 42/269611/21.

"You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
