New civic leaders

MALDON Town Council has announced that Cllr James Burrell-Cook has been elected as Town Mayor for the 2026–27 civic year, following the Annual Meeting of the Town Council on 26 May 2026.

Cllr Burrell-Cook succeeds outgoing Mayor Cllr John Driver and will be supported by his husband, Paul Burrell-Cook, as Consort. Councillor Carlie Mayes has been appointed Deputy Town Mayor, with Glenn Mayes DL serving as Consort.

The new Mayor has chosen Farleigh Hospice and Essex & Herts Air Ambulance as his charities for the year.
