New online singing initiative aims to promote wellbeing as we emerge from the pandemic

A Maldon modern choir is supporting a new initiative to get people singing online to boost their sense of wellbeing and help protect their mental health following the pandemic - and is urging people to sign up.

The new online singing initiative - Called Cabin Fever Choir - is being launched on Monday, 1 March, to raise mental health awareness in support of the charity MIND.

Due to time delays online, everyone except the choir leader will be muted but singers will gain from seeing others on screen, singing with them.

There will be a choice of two weekly singing sessions, both lasting 45 minutes. Singers can choose either Monday at 7.30pm or Thursday at 11am.

Director of Maldon-based Sound Collective Chorus, Emma Durrant, said: "Songs will be all styles and all eras taught in a fun, modern way.

"Now you can sing from your sofa with no previous experience and no pressure."
