The new video.
The new video.

With just four weeks remaining for a consultation on changes to health services in mid and south Essex, the NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board has produced a new video outlining what the proposals mean.

At 15 minutes long, the short video may help busy residents get to grips with the proposals quickly.

It can be viewed here:

More detailed information can be found on a dedicated webpage.

Proposals discussed in the video include:

  • potential changes to the places where the care board provides some community hospital intermediate care and stroke rehabilitation services,
  • making permanent the temporary move of the freestanding midwife-led birthing unit from St Peter's Hospital, Maldon to the William Julien Courtauld Unit at St Michael's, Braintree.
  • the possibility of moving all other patient servicesat St Peter's Hospital, Maldon to other locations, mostly in and around Maldon.

More than 1,500 survey responses have been received so far from people across mid and south Essex. If you haven't completed the survey yet, there is still time before the consultation closes on 21 March 2024.

Other ways you can get involved

  • Completing a survey on virtual views
  • Joining one of the planned events
  • Joining a session being run by a voluntary sector organisation. These sessions are for people that might find it difficult to attend one of the other public events, and/or for people that need extra support to understand the proposals and share their views.
