TWO years after a collision that resulted in the death of an elderly pedestrian, Essex Police Force has confirmed that one of its officers will face trial.
Martin Lamb, 51, will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday (27 October) charged with causing death by careless driving.
It is alleged that while driving on 25 October 2023 Lamb, who was off duty at the time, was involved in a collision with a pedestrian who later died.
The incident happened in Prittlewell Chase in Southend. The elderly victim was rushed to the hospital following the incident but died the next day.
The officer was immediately put under investigation, but has only now been charged.
