As the Queen's Platinum Jubilee kicks off this Thursday (June 2), here's how the Maldon District will be celebrating the occasion this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Thursday 2 June - Jubilee Beacons:

  • Maldon - Ceremony to light Promenade Park Beacon, 9.10pm
  • Heybridge - King George V Playing Fields, Plantation Hall, at 9pm*
  • Mundon - Woodside Green. 3pm to 5pm*: Tea party (bring your own picnic) with facepainting, followed by BBQ and disco in the village hall. 9.40pm: The beacon will be lit
  • Tollesbury - Elysian Gardens. 9pm: Bugler, choir and plaque unveiling. 9.45pm: Beacon lighting. 10pm: Fireworks
  • Steeple/St Lawrence - St Lawrence Hill, at 9.15pm
  • Great Totham - Goat Lodge Road, by fiveways junction, at 9.15pm*
  • *Times may be subject to change.

Jubilee Events:

Friday 3 June

  • Goldhanger - Jubilee Festival Fun Day at In and around Goldhanger Village Hall
  • Maldon - Morris Dancing at Hythe Quay at 12pm, finishing outside All Saints Church at 3pm
  • Maylandsea - Platinum Jubilee Party in the park at Lawling Park, from 12 Noon
  • Steeple/St Lawrence - Fun Day at Steeple Village Hall with barbeque, inflatables, games and stalls, from 10am

Saturday 4 June

  • Steeple/St Lawrence - Village Cream Tea
  • Southminster - Queen's Jubilee Fun Day at Wibblers Brewery, Taproom and Kitchen, from 12 Noon
  • Great Totham - Jubilee Weekend at The Bull, Saturday and Sunday

Sunday 5 June

  • Steeple/St Lawrence - Aerial photo shoot, at 12.30pm
  • Heybridge - The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Street Party at Heybridge Swifts Football Club, from 2pm
