Plume Academy, Maldon - Back to School

It has been an absolutely fantastic start back to Plume Academy for our 1800 students and 300+ staff.

As expected, uniforms are being worn with pride and as we take them through our clear standards, expectations and routines so as to ensure we all remain as safe as possible, the support and positive approach from our students has been phenomenal – I am so pleased as well as so genuinely proud, however, not I'm surprised one little bit though!

It has been such a tonic to see them all return as the academy, despite never being closed, has simply not been the same without them all being in together. That's why many of us have been so very much looking forward to this day and why we were awake from about 4.00 am this morning!

It has been especially great to see our 315 new Year 7 students and who we officially welcomed into the Plume Family today. The vast majority skipped in looking immaculate and even the odd few who were extremely nervous were very brave and came in. They had some wonderful support from their parents and carers too and as I said to many of them at the main student entrance, they themselves have been brilliant throughout the induction process and their children are most fortunate to have them providing such care, support and love.

The bottom line is that this term was never going to be easy and for many reasons. However, and again, we've made as good a start as we possibly could have and this is because our students, our staff and our families have all pulled together and done quite simply what we do best – take care and look after each other! I only expect this to continue moving forward too!
