Police are appealing for information after three men attempted to fraudulently use credit and debit cards - before one of them assaulted a female shop worker when challenged.

The trio ran up a four-figure sum across multiple cards at the Maharaj General Store in Maldon Road, Hatfield Peverel, just before 5.30pm on Friday, 5 February.

After the assault on the woman, it is believed they drove off in a white car - potentially a Vauxhall Zafira - and left in the direction of Maldon.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the identities of the three men pictured should submit a report online using the link here or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm.

You can also call Braintree's Local Policing Team on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/21161/21.

Information can also be given to independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or by using the link to the Crimestoppers website here.
