£1 million cannabis haul seized in Witham

A huge amount of cannabis was discovered by police in a container on Perry Road on Wednesday.
Once opened, the container contained a cannabis haul worth up to £1 million.
A man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and was later released on conditional bail whilst the investigation continues.
Although, police remain in the early stages of the investigation, officers believe they've seized more than 300kg of cannabis.

Inspector Phil Jackson, of the Braintree and Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Our officers have again seized a significant quantity of suspected controlled drugs that now cannot be used to fund organised crime and blight our neighbourhoods.
"Drugs offences are not victimless crimes and bring anti-social behaviour and associated crimes into our neighbourhoods and can lead to further harm to residents and businesses.
"Cannabis remains a controlled Class B drug and our officers will continue to work to reduce possession and use of controlled drugs and associated crimes across our area."
