A Christmas advent raffle offering prizes for the days running up to Christmas is a great idea – but the real winners of this local charity event will be young people who have undetected heart conditions.

The Charlotte Adams Memorial Fund was set up by a mum who wants to make sure that her daughter is not forgotten – and at the same time help to make sure that other young people can get the heart screenings that could potentially save them from being taken with sudden cardiac failure. This raffle will help provide community defibrillators, which can increase the chances of survival of a sudden cardiac attack by 90 per cent.

Charlotte was just 23 years old when she died because of an undetected heart condition in November, 2014. Funds raised in her name have already seen defibrillators placed at Great Totham Primary School, where Charlotte once attended, as well at the Village Hall where she went to nursery and at The Mitre in Wickham Bishops.

Working with the charity C-R-Y (Cardiac Risk in the Young), the Charlotte Adams Memorial Fund has also raised cash to fund cardiac screening events where more than 500 young people have had the critical checks.

Charlotte's mum, Kate Bome, said: "She was beautiful inside and out and I miss her dreadfully.

"The only thing I can do for my daughter is to make sure that she's never forgotten.

"Ticket sales for the advent are going amazingly and every penny will be used to buy defibrillators."

A multitude of local businesses have provided amazing prizes for the advent raffle and if you would like to take part you can find the link to the raffle here.
