Residents are reminded that they are running out of time to apply for a postal vote for the May local elections

Local News by The Editor 7th Sep 2021

Maldon district residents are being reminded that they are running out of time to apply for a postal vote for the local elections - with the deadline for applications on 20 April.

Residents will be able to cast their votes at real-life polling stations on Thursday, 6 May, if that's their preference.

However, any voter can apply for a postal vote and exercise their democratic choice from their own home for this election should they wish to.

In Maldon district, in addition to the Essex County Council elections, there will be by-elections for two currently vacant district council seats - for Tollesbury and Heybridge East wards - as well as some parish and town council seats.

You can apply for a postal vote until 5pm on Tuesday, 20 April or a proxy vote until 5pm on Tuesday, 27 April.

A spokesperson for Maldon District Council said: "We would encourage you to make sure your application is processed early, as we do expect an increased demand for postal and proxy votes due to the coronavirus pandemic."

To register for a postal vote you can use the link available here here.

To register for a proxy vote use the link available here.
