Riverside celebrates
Ormiston Rivers Academy students are celebrating the rewards of their hard work after collecting their post-16 grades this morning.
The Year 13 students at the academy, located on Southminster Road and part of Ormiston Academies Trust, have achieved some great results following two years of hard work and determination.
The academy saw particular success in mathematics, physics, English literature and biology. These subjects demonstrate a strong capacity to add value, with the outcomes in mathematics and physics particularly excelling in both attainment and progress.
Across all subjects, nine A* grades, 29 As, and 44 B grades were achieved. Mathematics led the way with two A*s, four As, and five Bs, while English literature also performed strongly with two A*s, one A, and five Bs. Music technology achieved four Distinction*s, and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) produced exceptional outcomes with two A*s and nine As from 26 entries.
The whole school community has come together to celebrate these achievements, with many students securing places at their chosen universities, in highly skilled employment, or coveted apprenticeships.
While all students have done well, there have been some standout individual performances. These include:
- Jacob Henman was awarded four A* grades in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and further mathematics, and has secured a place to study Mathematics at Durham University.
- Riley Archer successfully achieved Distinction* grades in music technology and media studies, an A in the EPQ, and a B in drama, and has secured a place to study Music and Sound Production at Bournemouth University.
- Danielle Riley obtained an A* in English literature, an A in sociology, an A in the EPQ, and a Merit in health & social care, and has secured a place to study Criminology and Criminal Law at Anglia Ruskin University.
- Julia Piorunkiewicz achieved an A in Mathematics, an A in Chemistry, and a B in Biology, securing her place to study Biochemistry at Durham University.
Rivers is committed to delivering an ambitious, inclusive education that empowers every student to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to their community and beyond. By being part of Ormiston, the academy strives to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background, by providing the best learning environments both inside and outside the classroom.
Dijana Piralic, Incoming Principal at Ormiston Rivers Academy, said: "We are thrilled with the success our Sixth Form students have achieved this year. Their dedication and perseverance have truly paid off, and today's results are a testament to their efforts.
"As they take the next steps into higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work, we know they are prepared and ready to thrive."
