Santander has reassured customers that it has no planned permanent branch closures, as rumours swirl on social media regarding the future of the Maldon branch.

Maldon Nub News recently reached out to Santander after discovering a number of posts on social media speculating the potential closure of the Maldon bank branch.

Online, Santander maintains they "have no planned permanent branch closures currently."

A spokesperson for Santander told Maldon Nub News: "As a leading retail bank, we continuously review our operating model to ensure we are organised in the best way to support our customers. Whenever changes are made to the network, we always ensure that customers are made aware first.

"We remain committed to ensuring customers can bank with us through a range of channels, including in-person at branches and ATMs, or through our online, mobile and telephone banking services.

"Customers can also use over 11,000 Post Office branches for their banking needs, as well as Banking Hubs, given we are a member of Cash Access UK Ltd."

The Maldon High Street Santander is now the only remaining bank in Maldon, after NatWest closed its town centre branch back in March 2024.

Maldon Santander is open Monday to Saturday, opening at 9.30am and closing at 3pm on weekdays and 12.30pm on weekends.

Santander says branch opening hours have permanently changed due to the increased use of online banking or those contacting banks by telephone.

If you need support from Santander that can't be provided through Mobile, Online or Telephone Banking or during branch opening hours, you can call them on 0330 9 123 123.
