Solar energy company re-submit plans for ‘exciting’ new site in the Dengie

The company has plans for the erection of a solar array, comprising of ground-mounted solar panels and an energy storage system, including an access track and security infrastructure on land south of Keeling Road, Dengie.

In the planning statement, planning agent ADAS Planning states that the proposal is "an exciting opportunity for a renewable energy development to be built in the district that will generate and efficiently store a significant amount of renewable, carbon-free electricity, connecting directly to the local electricity distribution network."

The solar company, British Solar Renewables, described itself as "creating the landscape for net zero".

The full proposal, located here, resubmits plans for the site after a previous proposal was refused by Maldon District Council on July 3 2023.

The original application (reference 23/00244) was refused due to flood risk, lack of sufficient ecology assessment and concerns of harm to the landscape and surrounding heritage sites.

Representations on the applications must be made in writing by 26 January 2024.
