Private provider of home care services, Home Instead, is hoping to recruit around 50 local caregivers after it officially opens its new branch in South Woodham Ferrers (SWF) this month.

Although the branch opened on 4 January this year, it could only provide companionship services as it was waiting to be granted registration by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). It will now officially open on Friday, 13 August to provide personal care for elderly residents in SWF and its surrounding communities.

It is keen to recruit locals - including residents from Burnham-on-Crouch, the Dengie and SWF.

Susan Garrett, care manager of the branch, said: "We want to create jobs and we're looking to recruit about 50 caregivers."

She added: "We keep caregivers in our area. As much as we look after our clients, we very much value our carers as well."

Home Instead UK was established in 2005, and has over 200 locally owned and operated offices delivering care across the UK.

The SWF office is owned and operated by Dorothy Nwankwo, who decided to bring Home Instead to SWF and its surrounding communities in order to improve the quality of care delivered in the area.

Areas to which the branch will deliver care include SWF, the Dengie, Burnham-on-Crouch, Hockley, Maylandsea, Southminster, Rochford, Bradwell-on-Sea, Canewdon, Monsale, Church End and Rayleigh.

The care provided by the branch includes home help, companionship, personal care and dementia care for elderly people to help them live independently, happily and comfortably in their own homes.

Susan and Dorothy want to build a community around the branch. Susan said: "We're hoping to recruit a lot more staff in the area to make it a real community."

Caregivers will be required to provide personal and professional references, complete an enhanced DBS check and undergo intensive training.
