More pre-bookable and walk-in Covid vaccine appointments are being made available in Essex this coming weekend - including at a vaccination centre in South Woodham Ferrers.

The vaccination centre at Tyler's Ride is around eight miles from Maldon, and will be offering pre-booked and walk-in slots on a first-come first-served basis.

The appointments will be available on Saturday (27 November) and Sunday (28 November) from 8.30am to 7.30pm.

It follows the latest announcement that 40-49 year olds can now receive a Covid booster jab, if it has been six months since their second dose.

16 and 17 year olds can now also receive a second dose, if it has been 12 weeks since their first.

More slots are also available this weekend at the following vaccination centres:

- Chelmsford City Racecourse: Anyone who is eligible can receive their Pfizer first, second or booster dose this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm - appointments can be booked here and walk-in slots will be available on the day, subject to availability.

- Orsett Hospital: Anyone who is eligible can receive their Pfizer first, second or booster dose on Saturday (9am - 6pm) and Sunday (9am - 5pm) - these are walk-in appointments. There will also be increased capacity at the following vaccination centres: - Alistair Farquharson Centre, Thurrock

- The Lodge, Runwell

- Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue These sites are open to pre-booked appointments and walk-in appointments on a first-come first-served basis on Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am to 7.30pm. Runnymede Hall in Thundersley will only be open on Sunday from 8.30am to 7.30pm for pre-booked appointments and walk-in appointments, which again will be on a first-come first-served basis. You can find out more about vaccination centres in mid and south Essex here. Information about eligibility, how to find a site near you and how to make an appointment can also be found here, or by calling 119. A spokesperson for the NHS said: "While the national vaccination programme continues to make progress, there are still many people who are eligible to be vaccinated, and they are encouraged to come forward as soon as possible."
