The Battle of Maldon: historian Stephen Nunn explores the question of where it happened in a new video

MALDON historian Stephen Nunn has produced a video telling of his research into the famous Battle of Maldon. Here he explains more.

"As long as I have been interested in Maldon's history, I have been fascinated by this, the town's greatest event – the Battle of 991.

"For many years people have taken it for granted that the battle took place on the mainland just off Northey Island. However, I discovered that the site was only identified as such in 1925. To me the topography didn't make sense and I have been trying to unravel the mystery ever since. This is what I have found out……".
