Traffic alert: Serious accident causes closure of the A12 between junctions 18 and 19

The A12 has been closed between Junction 18 (for Maldon and the A414) and Junction 19 due to a serious accident on the northbound carriageway.

Traffic is also being held temporarily on the southbound side to allow the air ambulance to land.

Emergency services, including Essex Police, are in attendance.

A spokesperson for Highways England said: "Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes."
