Maldon: the cold snap is continuing to cause disruption as icy conditions persist

Promenade Park car park remains closed today (Tuesday, 9 February) due to icy roads as the cold weather continues to cause disruption.

Maldon District Council decided to close the car park yesterday following a number of "near misses" with regard to car accidents in and near the park.

A council spokesperson said: "We will review this as the weather improves and will share any updates as soon as we can.

"In the meantime, please remember to follow the current lockdown rules and avoid unnecessary travel."

Last night, the council also suspended today's waste collection services and warned that there will be disruption to bin collections this week. Residents are asked to put out their waste ready for collection on their usual day so that they can be collected as soon as it becomes possible.

Many schools across Maldon and the district remain closed to the children of key workers and other students who usually attend at the current time. A list of which schools will have an emergency closure in place the following day is updated on the Essex County Council website each day at 6pm and you can visit the webpage via the link here.

Local vaccination centres and the mass vaccination centres at Wickford and Chelmsford remain open for appointments as planned at the current time. More information and updates on vaccinations and the weather situation is available on the Essex NHS website available by using the link here.
