SATURDAY: Support Heybridge Swifts in its match against Felixstowe Walton United

Local football team Heybridge Swifts will be competing in round 25 of the Isthmian North League this Saturday (29 January).

Head to Scraley Road at 3pm to watch the squad take on Felixstowe Walton United.

SATURDAY: Learn about Captain Jim Thom's life in classic yachts

UPDATE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SATURDAY, 12 FEBRUARY.

Support a Maldon sailing school while listening to Jim Thom talk about his fascinating life as captain of the classic yachts Kentra, Mariquita and Atlantic.

Money raised by the event will go towards the work of the Sea-Change Sailing Trust, which offers sailing barge experiences to young people in the district with disabilities, who are experiencing social exclusion or who are challenged by traditional educational settings.

Tickets are available in person from Downs Road Boatyard, on Downs Road in Maldon, or by email from [email protected].

The talk will begin at 7.30pm at Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill.

SATURDAY: Test out your general knowledge at WMCC's first quiz night of 2022

It's a new year with fresh questions from Kevin, the quizmaster extraordinaire at West Maldon Community Centre (WMCC).

The quiz will take place at the centre, on Sunbury Way, from 8pm to 10.15pm on Saturday.

The number of teams allowed at the quiz is limited to allow for Covid safety, so residents are encouraged to email [email protected] to ensure your team's place.

Entry costs £4 per person for over 16s, while under 16s go free.

There will also be a raffle, which costs £1 per ticket.

SUNDAY: Enjoy live music at the Mighty Oak Tap Room

A popular acoustic duo will be playing live music at the Mighty Oak Tap Room this Sunday (30 January).

Head to the pub, at 10 High Street, from 4pm to 7pm to watch Playing for Keeps in action while enjoying ales straight from the cask.
