SATURDAY: Learn about Captain Jim Thom's life in classic yachts

Support a Maldon sailing school while listening to Jim Thom talk about his fascinating life as captain of the classic yachts Kentra, Mariquita and Atlantic.

The talk was postponed from January and will take place this Saturday (12 February).

Money raised by the event will go towards the work of the Sea-Change Sailing Trust, which offers sailing barge experiences to young people in the district with disabilities, who are experiencing social exclusion or who are challenged by traditional educational settings.

Tickets are available in person from Downs Road Boatyard, on Downs Road in Maldon, or by email from [email protected].

The talk will begin at 7.30pm at Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill.

SATURDAY: Enjoy an evening of funk, jazz, pop and rock music

Essex band Raz will be headlining an evening of live music at Langford Village Hall this Saturday.

The band plays songs across multiple genres - including funk, jazz, pop and rock - and will also be joined by jazz–inspired singer Polly Haynes, who will be performing her own set for attendees.

There will be no bar on the night so feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks.

Head down to the village hall, on Hatfield Road in Langford, from 7pm to enjoy the show.

Tickets cost £6 each or £10 for two people, and you can buy them here.
