Friday 24 February

'The History of The Five Ark Royals' at Maldon Little Ship Club, from 7.30pm

An evening talk in support of Maldon based charity Sea-Change Sailing Trust.

  • Rear Admiral David Snelson CB FNI, former Commander of HMS Ark Royal, will be speaking upstairs at Maldon Little Ship Club at 7.30pm on Friday 24 February.
  • The bar will be open, and after the interval we will show a film about Thames sailing barges and the work of Sea-Change Sailing Trust.
  • £10 per head.

Steam Tug Brent Trust Quiz Night at Maldon Town Hall, from 7pm

Another fun quiz night to raise funds for the Steam Tug Brent Trust, with Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor Mark Heard, as Quizmaster.

  • Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
  • Tickets cost £7.50
  • There will also be a raffle, with proceeds going to the Brent Restoration Fund.
  • Bring your own drinks and nibbles.

Warhammer 40,000 Beginners Night at Funky Shack, Madison Heights, Maldon, 6pm to 8.30pm

A beginners' Warhammer session held at Funky Shack, a collectibles shop at Madison Heights.

  • See why celebrities such as Henry Cavill and David Harbour are so obsessed with the most popular miniature wargame in the world.
  • Entry costs £5 per person.

Saturday 25 February

Advanced Litter-Pick in partnership with The Rivers Trust at The Lock, Heybridge Basin, 10.30am to 1pm

This event is part of a series of regular events in partnership with The Rivers Trust, to survey the catchment area of the watercourses across green spaces in Maldon.

  • With the help of citizen scientists, The Rivers Trust is conducting research to identify which plastics (and other litter) are getting into local watercourses and the sea.
  • We will park on Lock Hill and start our walk from there, up the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation to the footbridge which crosses over to Rennie Walk. We will then walk to Northey View Road and back down the other side of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, crossing at the lock and ending at the Old Ship Pub.
  • Refreshments will be provided.

Sunday 26 February

Farmers Market at The Bell Inn, Tolleshunt Major, 9am to 1pm

Homemade, handmade and home-grown produce, with a chance to meet the people behind it.

  • Come along to buy dinner and enjoy breakfast from the BBQ Shack with a hot cup of Tea or Coffee.
  • Bacon rolls and tea will be available from 9am until 11am, and the pub opens at 11am.
