What's On: Maldon Books announces exciting events this month - featuring award-winning authors, chefs, and poets
Maldon Books has announced an exciting line-up of events throughout October, welcoming a host of popular authors to the town.
The first of this month's literary events will see author and poet A.K. Blakemore in conversation with Samuel Fisher, author of 'Wivenhoe' and co-owner of Burley Fisher Books in London. This Thursday (October 5), the talk will celebrate the release of Blakemore's highly anticipated second novel, The Glutton.

It will take place in the upstairs function room at The Blue Boar at 7pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased directly in the shop or online through Eventbrite. Both authors' books will be available to purchase after the event, where there will be an opportunity to have them signed.
Maldon Books Event: Tessa Kiros - Book Discussion and Demonstration at Ginny's Cocktail Lounge
On October 10, food writer Tessa Kiros will host a discussion and demonstration evening at Ginny's Cocktail Lounge from 7pm. The event will celebrate the publication of 'Now and Then', a definitive reflection on Tessa's lifetime of cooking and eating.
Guests will receive a glass of prosecco on arrival, with a range of cocktails available from the bar. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased directly in the shop or online through Eventbrite.
Maldon Books event: Sophie Godwin - Book discussion and demonstration at Ginny's Cocktail Lounge
Then, on October 18 at 7pm, chef, food writer, and stylist Sophie Godwin will present an evening of food and drinks to celebrate her first published book, 'Sundays: A Cookbook'. She will demonstrate a recipe for guests to try while discussing her work and recipes from the book.
Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased directly in the shop or online through Eventbrite.
Free 'Write Night' event at Maldon Books
Finally, on October 26, Maldon Books will hold a free 'Write Night' event from 6.30pm. Anyone with a work in progress, a project, or a piece of coursework awaiting completion is invited to attend. The one-off event aims to help people spend time working on a piece of writing at their leisure, in a comfortable space.
Those interested in attending are asked to contact the shop via email beforehand, although the event is completely free of charge.
