Maeldune Heritage Centre, among other sites, will be holding a number of events next week to celebrate 150 years of the Maldon Town Mayoral Chain.

Maldon History Week is running from May 25 to June 2, with family-friendly and educational activities available across Maldon.

The Maeldune Heritage Centre on Market Hill, home of Maldon's Visitor Information Centre, will be giving talks as well as offering activities.

Talks include 'A Stitch in Time' talk focusing on the history of Maldon Embroidery, as well as a talk on life as an Anglo-Saxon in Maldon.

For families, there will be Mayoral and Viking themed arts & crafts, a Maldon Embroidery Quiz and a Battle of Maldon themed wordsearch.

There will even be the chance for young visitors to receive a certificate of achievement.

Joye Colbeck, Centre Manager at The Maeldune Heritage Centre, said: "We're encouraging everyone to visit Maldon during Half Term so they may benefit from this fun-filled opportunity to engage with Maldon's Heritage".

The centre has a 'What's On' wall, which can signpost visitors to the free site entries and activities across the Maldon District.

It also offers Heritage Trail Map and the Blue Plaque Walk, so that visitors can pick out buildings and points of interest as they explore our historic Town and Quayside.

The centre is open from 11am until 4pm Tuesday to Saturday.

The Museum of Power, Combined Military Services Museum, Thames Sailing Barge Trust, and many more sites are offering family and children's activities throughout the week, with more information available from Maledune Heritage Centre or on their respective websites.

Maldon Heritage Sites also encouraging visitors include the Friary Walled Garden, the Steam Tug Brent, Leech Memorial Garden, The Maldon Society and St Mary's Church.

Moot Hall will also be opening its doors to visitors wishing to see the Mayoral Regalia.

Find out more on the Maeldune Heritage Centre website, or you can give them a call at 01621851628.
