Maldon District Council leader, Councillor Wendy Stamp urges residents who want to register for a postal vote to do so now

Maldon district residents are being urged to apply for a postal vote now in time for the planned 6 May local elections.

Residents will be able to cast their votes at real-life polling stations if that's their preference, but any voter can apply for a postal vote and exercise their democratic choice from their own home this election day should they wish to.

Maldon District Council's signage is one of the measures to help keep social distancing in place at the Prom

Maldon District Council has decided not to close the car park at the Prom this February half-term as the measures already put in place have been working to improve social distancing.

In a statement released this morning (Wednesday, 10 February) it was clear that the move to shut the car park at Maldon's popular Promenade Park during the week of the school holiday had been on the tables if issues with social distancing had not improved.

Maldon Police are still working out of the council offices, despite closure of the front desk

Maldon Police Team has reassured residents that they are still there for the community at their base in the council offices, where the front desk is temporarily closed.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Our Maldon Police front counter is temporarily closed as the shared reception area where it is based is being used as a vaccination centre.

Bradwell B: the local community is urged to have its say

The second community forum held by the company behind plans for the Bradwell B new nuclear power station looked at both the Environment Agency's current public consultation and the company's Environmental Impact Assessment.

More than 30 attendees representing different organisations – including community groups, public service organisations, county, district and parish councillors and MPs – attended the forum on Wednesday, 5 February, and were able to ask questions of Environment Agency (EA) speakers and Bradwell B Power Generation Company (BRB).
