The attack on the van

A MALDON publican has spoken of his hope that the town's best side will come to the fore after German builders who are installing the new organ at St Mary's Church had their van targeted - twice.

James Burrell-Cook, landlord of the Queen Victoria pub in Spital Road, helped the German workmen after their van was attacked last night (Thursday, 9 October) in St Giles Crescent as they sat eating dinner in the pub.

Could the pandemic bring about an end to homelessness in Maldon district?

MALDON has partnered up with four other districts across the county to help bring about an end to homelessness throughout the area.

The Essex Rough Sleeper Outreach Service was launched last September – and has now been able to make the most of the situation brought about by the pandemic – where rough sleepers were brought in off the streets into emergency accommodation.

Moot Hall will be lit up in pink and blue for Baby Loss Awareness Week

MALDON town centre will be lit up in pink and blue from tomorrow (Friday, 9 October) at night as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Behind the moving display in Maldon this year is Dave Ridgewell, manager at William H Brown estate agents in the High Street. Dave and his wife Abby, who live in Heybridge, lost their beautiful baby son Max in November last year, just one day after he was born. Abby had suffered complications during labour which meant that Max could not survive.

A MALDON business is among the latest to benefit from a Love Essex micro-grant – and now individuals and organisations across the district are invited again to apply for cash from the fund set up to help reduce household waste.

Silo, the zero-waste store in Bright's Path, Maldon, was among 14 projects county-wide to receive a micro-grant in the last round of Love Essex funding.
