MALDON's Totally Locally Fiver Fest is now offering shoppers the chance to grab a bite to eat as they grab those £5 bargains – and all for a fiver, too.

The festival, which kicks off on Saturday (10 October), gives shoppers the chance to grab a bargain and support the town's independent shops at the same time.

A MALDON publican has spoken of his hope that the town's best side will come to the fore after German builders who are installing the new organ at St Mary's Church had their van targeted - twice.

James Burrell-Cook, landlord of the Queen Victoria pub in Spital Road, helped the German workmen after their van was attacked last night (Thursday, 9 October) in St Giles Crescent as they sat eating dinner in the pub.

Starting on Saturday (10 October) and ending on Saturday, 24 October, Fiver Fest involves local businesses running special offers for just £5.

THE number of patients waiting more than 62 days for treatment in the area which includes Maldon is still twice as high as before Covid-19 struck.
