A hat-trick from inform striker, Adam Vyse (pictured) resulted in Maldon & Tiptree finishing victorious over Felixstowe & Walton in the Isthmian League Division One North, to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2020-21 season. Vyse, a new-recruit from Brentwood Town has now scored five games in just three games over the last week for Maldon, following goals against Grays Athletic and Canvey Island respectively.

Match Report:

On a wonderful surface, it was the Jammers who started the brighter of the two sides, with slick passing from front to back. Maldon were rewarded for their impressive start after just 13 minutes. Smart play from full-back, Makosini Ryan-Khanye allowed him to escape the defenders, his pass was flicked on both Alfie Mason, in to the path of in-form striker, Adam Vyse who unleased a fierce effort in to the back of the net, beyond Callum Robinson in the Felixstowe goal.

Following their early goal, Wayne Brown's men continued to look dangerous with every attack, forcing Robinson in to a couple of saves, whilst also going close to a second from a couple of set-piece routines. Despite gaining more possession as the game progressed towards the break, the visitors found it extremely difficult to breakdown the home defence, with Ben McNamara in the home goal remaining untroubled.

Half-time: Maldon & Tiptree 1-0 Felixstowe & Walton United

Much like the first half, the Jammers started on the front foot and 19 minutes in to the second half, extended their lead. A corner kick from the right hand was poorly dealt with by Robinson and Vyse, was on hand at the far post to tap the ball home from close range, for his second goal of the afternoon.

Three minutes later, Vyse had the chance for his hat-trick. Neat footwork from Hamza Kaid in the penalty area resulted in Brown's side being awarded a penalty kick and Vyse made no mistake from 12 yards. His powerful spot kick was too hot to handle for Robinson and it struck the back of the net to give Vyse his hat-trick and his 5th goal in just three games, in what has been some week for the Maldon striker.
