The following is a letter from the the Salvation Army in Maldon:
This Christmas will be one that will be remembered as "different" for many, however for us at The Salvation Army in Maldon, much of our community work continued despite November's lockdown and being moved into Tier 4.
This year, thanks to the generosity of the public across the district, the support of local supermarkets, and with the support of Essex Family Wellbeing Services and United in Kind, we were able to distribute over 600 presents to families who would have very little or
nothing under their Christmas tree this year, transforming Christmas for many children. In addition to that in December we were able to support families with food and provided over 90 food parcels working with partner agencies and those who came to us directly. On Saturday, 12 December 2020, thanks to permission granted by Maldon District Council and Maldon Town Council we held a street collection for donations to the work of The Salvation Army in Maldon totalling £675.65, while our band played carols for those shopping. All of this money will be used to continue the community work of The Salvation Army in Maldon through this next year. As a new year begins and a new lockdown has started, we are grateful to be working with a community who have enabled us to serve those in need through this extraordinary year and we will continue to look for ways to serve our community through the pandemic and beyond. With thanks, Captain Caron Doyle and Lieutenant Jon Doyle
