PLANS to turn a shelter at Promenade Park into a kiosk selling refreshments will go before Maldon Town Council's Planning Committee for comment on Monday (26 April).

However, the final say on the application from Mark Salisbury of Mrs Salisbury's Famous Tearooms will be had by Maldon District Council on a date yet to be set.

Essex County Council (ECC) – which last week said that nearly 90 per cent of parents in the Essex county area had received their first-choice place – has said it does not have data broken down to show the percentage of parents in Burnham-on-Crouch who were given their first choice.

The life-saving service's new North Weald airbase

The air ambulance trust that serves Maldon and the surrounding villages is celebrating after smashing an appeal to raise funds for its new Essex airbase.

The original target set by Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) in its 'Buy-a-Brick' appeal for the new airbase in North Weald was £20,000. However, after help and support from TV star Ray Winstone the appeal really 'took off' - and raised nearly double, at close to £40,000.
