Maldon Town Council has voted to tell the district council that it does not support plans that would see the High Street closed to cars and vans.
At a meeting of the full council yesterday (Monday, 26 November) evening, councillors were outspoken in their condemnation of the proposals, currently out for public consultation until 16 November.

Maldon & Tiptree have been handed a bumper home tie against Football League side, Morecambe FC of League 2 in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup. The draw was made live on national television on Monday, 26 October.

Fiver Fest in Maldon came to an end on Saturday (26 October) after proving a roaring success for the High Street in these challenging times.
Now the town centre's businesses want to thank all those shoppers who grabbed a bargain over the two weeks the Totally Locally festival ran for helping them to get back on their feet.
A penalty in the 88th minute from Shomari Barnwell secured the Jammers' place in the First Round of the FA Cup for a second successive season.
The Jammers completed another FA Cup upset, this time dispatching Haringey Borough of the Isthmian Premier Division, one-nil.

THE company behind the proposals for Bradwell B has defended its decision to lodge an appeal against Maldon District Council's (MDC's) refusal to permit investigative groundworks at the site – after anti-nuclear campaigners branded the appeal "inappropriate".
The Bradwell Against New Nuclear Group (BANNG) said in a statement yesterday (Friday, 23 October): "The Blackwater Against New Nuclear Group (BANNG) is surprised and concerned that this appeal is being pursued by the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN).
