STANDING as the Independent candidate for the Tollesbury seat on Maldon District Council in the elections on Thursday, 6 May is village activist volunteer orgnaniser Emma Stephens.
Emma, who moved to Tollesbury six years ago following her retirement from the NHS, is clear about her reasons for wanting to stand for the seat as an Independent candidate.

NEW green keeping machinery at Maldon Bowling Club has meant the facility has been able to promote the sport to the wider community - including pupils from Plume Academy.

A documentary about the making of The Who's iconic 1967 album 'The Who Sell Out' has been filmed on Radio Caroline's radio ship Ross Revenge, moored on the River Blackwater, off the coast of Bradwell-on-Sea.
The programme is part of the Sky Arts Classic Album series and airs this Friday (23 April) at 9pm.

A scheme that has supported 45 Maldon families with fresh food hampers from the start of March is now continuing through April and will be tailed off gradually in May and June.
The 'Meat & 2 Veg' was initially rolled out for the month of March after an Essex County Council grant was secured by Maldon Town Council.
The popular Grape and Grain alfresco experience will return to Maldon Prom on Thursday, 22 April.
Having been a hit in the summer of 2020, the Covid secure Grape and Grain will run from Thursday to Sunday each week, from 12 noon until 10pm.

Early on a Friday morning in August of 1900 the Thames spritsail barge Saltcote Belle - built in 1895 by master ship builder John Howard at his yard in Maldon - was moored at Heybridge Basin awaiting the arrival of a party from the Britannia Fruit Preserving Company of Tiptree (better
