A last minute goal from Kamani McFarlane secured the Jammers a FA Cup upset against their Isthmian Premier visitors and a place in the second qualifying round.

The Isthmian North underdogs gave as good as they got throughout and dominated the first half in particular.

The only disappointment was they ended it on even terms.

Maldon started the game quickly and Sami Bessadi fired just wide with a crisp shot.

But it wasn't long before the Jammers took the lead. Just 13 minutes had passed when Harvey Sayer dribbled down the left before crossing for McFarlane to fire in a low well-placed shot.

The lead lasted just ten minutes and it was against run of play when Georgios Aresti fired in a shot from the edge of the box that took a big deflection to get past keeper Tom Middlehurst.

Maldon continued to impress with McFarlane breaking through only for the bobbling pitch to take away a good chance.

Long throws from Lance Akins caused problems but somehow at half time the score remained 1-1.

The second half was pretty uneventful with neither team creating much at all. Both teams had half chances but rarely threatened to score.

But in the end, in the 90th minute, Jammers got what they deserved from a superb piece of football when Brad McClenaghan split the defence with a fine pass and McFarlane netted with a cool finish to secure Maldon a place in Monday's draw.
