New plans have been submitted by the McDonalds in Fullbridge to install signs on its site, after a similar application was refused in July.

The proposal submitted to Maldon District Council involve the installation of five digital freestanding signs and a 15 inch digital booth screen at the fast food restaurant on Fullbridge Road.

This comes after the district council refused a similar application by McDonalds for advertisement consent to install five digital freestanding signs and a 15 inch digital booth screen at the Fullbridge site earlier this year.

Councillor Jeanette Stilts proposed the refusal, citing "visual clutter and overdevelopment of the advertisement sites".

The town council had previously recommended refusal of the application as it said the internally illuminated signs and screens would cause "overdevelopment of the site due to the excessive and dominant signage which would be out of character in the local area".

The McDonalds was recently given the green light by district councillors to move to two drive-thru lanes.

Maldon District Council will make the final decision.
