The Maeldune Heritage Centre has announced it will be re-opening on Tuesday, 13 April – and as well as hosting art exhibitions and selling a large range of local artwork, crafts and produce, will now also be the new home for Maldon’s Visitor Information Centre.

A team of Maldon ambassadors will join the existing team of dedicated volunteers at the centre at the corner of Market Hill and the High Street to help visitors to the town find out about local events, other heritage venues and places of interest, as well as travel information and tide times.

The first exhibition following lockdown is ‘Unlocked’ and will run from Wednesday, 14 April to Saturday, 1 May. It will feature several local artists in a mixed media display including:

• Jenny Newman
• George Kowzan
• Ian Birch
• Doris Goddard
• David Wiseman (paintings)
• Jill Hipsey (textiles)
• Malcolm Brown (photography).

A spokesperson for The Maeldune Centre said: “The work will showcase their creativity and visitors will be able to learn about what inspired the artists to continue being creative during the last year in lockdown.

“The doors of the centre will be open with a warm welcome inside for all our visitors, regular, far and wide. We look forward to seeing you!”
