Brentwood Mac Sing for Save Maldon Medical Services
By Guest author 2 hours ago
Saturday night at Plume Academy saw a phenomenal performance by Brentwood Mac; a six-piece line-up of Essex musicians paying a first class tribute to the music of Fleetwood Mac.
Brentwood Mac performed over two hours of Fleetwood Mac songs to an enthusiastic and friendly sold-out audience of 300.
The evening's performance was extra special as it was in support of Save Maldon Medical Services (SMMS). Most of the band and its support team have used St Peter's Hospital or have a relative that works there, so they decided to do this concert in support of SMMS.
Jo and Kelly from SMMS had a table in the bar to raise awareness of the campaign to save our precious St Peter's Hospital and to keep all Maldon Medical Services in Maldon, giving them the opportunity to talk about the progress made and discuss any issues or concerns. They also had a stall with gifts to purchase and received some very generous donations from the audience as they left the concert.
Jo Phillips from SMMS said: "As the SMMS campaign joins the newly formed working group alongside other stakeholders in the District, we are delighted that the support from local residents is still so strong.
"Events such as this concert by Brentwood Mac help us not only raise important funds but also keep the awareness of this important campaign in everyone's minds and we thank them for their support."
Brentwood Mac opened the concert with a breath-taking performance of 'The Chain' and immediately unveiled themselves as a truly exceptional tribute act, capturing the unique and iconic sound of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hit.
Heavenly 5-part harmonies graced the first tune and continued to remain faultless throughout every song. 'Gypsy' was instantly recognisable through the band's careful attention to Fleetwood Mac's signature sound; in particular the beautiful guitar tone played expertly by John.
'Say You Love Me' was sung flawlessly by the immensely talented bassist Belinda. Guitar and vocalist Clive shows his golden fingers with a solo performance of Lindsey Buckingham's 'Go Insane'.
A unique performance of 'Big Love' closed the first set and the audience were entranced.
After a brief interval, the second set opened with the iconic sound of 'Albatross'.
Following on was a stunning performance of 'Man of the World' by vocalist and guitarist Neil and a swooning cover of 'Need Your Love So Bad'.
A show-stopping performance of 'Gold Dust Woman' was sung by Lyz who gives the song all the grit and soul it deserves and then drummer Nick performs a drum solo like no other and captures the magic of 'Tusk' for the band's penultimate song.
The audience was on their feet for an encore of 'Don't Stop' and they've loved every minute of Brentwood Mac!
Brentwood Mac's sell-out performances speak for themselves; pay a visit to their website and you'll see a string of sold-out gigs throughout Essex and beyond this year.
There are more concerts on the horizon for 2025, including another show at Plume Academy in December 2025.
