BAFTA winner Lenny Rush, who attends Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham-On-Crouch, is set to star alongside Ncuti Gatwa in the new series of Doctor Who.

Lenny, 14, is already making a name for himself as a comedic as well as dramatic actor. Last month, Lenny bagged a BAFTA for his role in the BBC's 'Am I Being Unreasonable?'.

The rising star was up against Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe, The Outlaws' Stephen Merchant, and The IT Crowd's Matt Berry for the 'Best Male Comedy Performance' at the BAFTA TV awards, on May 14.

At the time, Joanne Williams, Principal at Ormiston Rivers Academy, said: "It has been a pleasure to watch Lenny's career flourish and I know there are many more amazing opportunities and achievements ahead of him.

"He is an incredible inspiration for all of us here, and we are so pleased to be able to cheer him on."

Following Doctor Who's 60th anniversary celebrations in November, the sonic screwdriver will be passed on to Ncuti Gatwa at Christmas. Lenny will appear alongside him and the new Doctor's new companion, Ruby Sunday - played by Coronation Street's Millie Gibson - in 2024.

A spokesperson for Ormiston Rivers Academy has been approached for further comment.
