Woodfords Garage in Burnham-on-Crouch has been sold to a new operator - promising more services but the same great customer service.

The Maldon Road Garage has been bought by Nalliah Thayaparan of NTS Retail Ltd, following 30 years of ownership by the Woodford family.

Woodfords garage is an established convenience store and MOT Centre which offers a range of convenience items and essential services to local and commuting customers.

The most recent owner, Dave Woodford, recently sold the business as he planned for his retirement. Dave operated the garage alongside his son, Roger.

He said: "It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving, as we say goodbye to many of our loyal staff and customers, who we would also like to thank - especially those that stuck by us during the difficult times over the pandemic.

"We pass the business onto experienced operators, who no doubt will want to build on the business and the services it offers to the community."

NTS Retail Ltd was launched in 1993 as an independent forecourt company and has since began operating over twenty sites across England and Wales.

Founder and CEO of NTS, Mr Thayaparan, says he plans to build on the additional services on offer at Woodfords, whilst maintaining the customer relations Roger and the family have built.

He added: "We are excited to grow this well-established business, which Roger and his family have built up, and we look forward to welcoming both existing customers and new ones."

Lewis Last, Associate Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, commented: "I am pleased to confirm the sale of Woodfords Garage. For Roger and his family this is an opportunity to go travelling and visit family overseas – wishing all the family the best.

"Also, For Mr Thayaparan, this is a great addition to his growing portfolio, which slots in nicely with his other sites in the region.

"I am sure Thaya and his team will continue the great work of the Woodfords family. I look forward to dropping by again in the near future."
