The Maldon Town Police Team has arrested and charged an individual from the Burnham-on-Crouch area on suspicion of a public order offence.

The suspect faces allegations of persistent antisocial, abusive and threatening behaviour against his next door neighbour.

Sergeant Matt Dalby of the Maldon Town Team said: "We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour in any of its forms. People should be allowed to live in their homes without fear of harassment and intimidation.

"We will now work collaboratively with the relevant housing association and local authority to make sure that the victim can live their life without any detrimental impact."

The public order offence, specifically covered under section 4a of the Public Order Act 1986, includes behaviour that constitutes intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

The suspect will now have to explain their actions to a Magistrates Court, alongside receiving a Community Protection Warning.
