A cyclist has been airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in a critical condition, following a serious collision in Limebrook Way, Maldon, yesterday (March 30).

The man is said to have been involved in a collision with a car.

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust told Nub News: "We were called at 5.14pm with reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist on Limebrook Way in Maldon.

"Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. The cyclist, an adult man, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital for treatment for chest and head injuries."

Eyewitnesses described seeing damage to the front bumper of a grey BMW, with a smashed window.

A spokesperson for Essex Police told Nub News: "We were called to Limebrook Way near Morrisons at around 5.15pm yesterday following reports of a collision.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

"Anyone who may have witnessed this collision - who hasn't spoken to police already - is asked to contact us, quoting incident 947 of 30 March. "

Earlier this month, a motorcyclist was taken to Broomfield Hospital following another road traffic collision at the junction of Fambridge Road and the B1018.
